“Medical Museion in Copenhagen – yes, I know the place but they aren’t really open, right?”
Phrases like the one above has not been rare to hear, though the museum actually have been open 4 days a week since 2007. But NOW things are changing: From January 1st Medical Museion will be open from Tuesday to Sunday, just as one would expect from a museum in the 21st century.
We will open the doors for the new era Tuesday the 3rd of January 2017 at 10AM. To celebrate the milestone in Medical Museion’s history we are inviting all of you to OPEN HOUSE. There will be free entrance to the museum between 10AM and 12noon, and we will even serve coffee and a snack to the early birds. At the same time you will get the chance to chat with the staff about the exhibitions and you can even get a peek into the basement, where 2017’s grand exhibition “Mind the gut” soon will rise. Read more on the Facebook-event (Danish).
The new opening hours are: Tuesday-Friday from 10AM to 4PM and Saturday-Sunday from 12PM to 4PM. We still offer daily tours in the museum; weekdays at 1PM (in Danish) and 2PM (in English), and in the weekend at 12.30PM (Danish), 1.30PM (English) and 2.30PM (Danish). Along with the new and extended opening hours we are also going to adjust the admission. Entrance for adults will be 75 DKR, while children under 16, students, and senior citizens are 50 DKR.
If you would like to visit the museum as a private group or a school class, we still offer private group tours. With the new opening hours we now offer school tours Tuesday-Friday in the morning. The tour takes about an hour and costs 750 DKR – read more about school tours here. We also offer tours for private groups and these tours takes about an hour and 15 minutes. Private tours costs 1500 DKR at fixed times in the afternoon and 2500 DKR at any other time. Read more about the group tours here.
