Biohackers and DIY biologists want to set biology free from university and industry laboratories, and make it available to everyone…

From January 24th –  June 30th Medical Museion is hosting an open biology lab where you can encounter unique instruments hacked out of discarded equipment, stories of biohackers and hackerspaces, and DNA experiments.

Through March we have hosted a series of open workshops and events in the biohacking lab lab. Click on the video, photos and boxes to see what you’ve missed. Remember the lab is still open for visitors during the museums opening hours.

Doing and Debating Synthetic Biology
Thursday, 21st March 2013, 7.30 - 10pm. Public symposium Biohackers and DIY biologists want to set biotechnology free from university and industry laboratories, and make it available to everyone… From January 24th, Medical Museion is hosting an open biology lab where you can encounter unique instruments build from discarded equipment, images of hackerspaces from around the world, and DNA experiments.
DIY-Biology Workshop
Thursday, 14th March 2013, 7.30 - 10pm. Hands-on Workshop On Thursday 14th of March, you can come to a biohacking workshop and get hands on with experiments and hardware hacks, guided by the DIY biologists, and chat about the ethics, politics, and dreams of open science.
Hackers In The House
Sunday 10th, 17th, and 24th February 2013, 12 - 4 pm. On three Sundays in February, the biohackers will be in the house, and visitors can drop in to try out experiments, chat to the scientists, and discuss the ethics of open science. No need to book.
