Mind the Gut
MtG - who's behind?
MtG - Vision

Mind the Gut is an exhibition project at Medical Museion and NNF CBMR Section for Science Communication, which will experiment with both form and content.

Mind the Gut is an exhibition that explores the connections between brain, gut, and the trillions of microbes that live on and in us. Recent research suggests that mental states and disorders are not just in our heads, but also in our bellies. This research could challenge our understanding of mental health, and the relationship between the body, its inner life and our environment. This research is literally mind-expanding.

Mind the Gut does not simply disseminate scientific research. The exhibition concept will situate cutting edge gut-brain-microbiome research in the long history of psychosomatic medicine, which is rich on examples of how the relationship of the psyche and body has been studied and understood. It places research and science in its cultural and historical context, inviting critical reflection on what it means for our view of ourselves as human beings.

Mind the Gut was awarded the Bikuben Foundation’s Exhibition Prize: Vision in 2015 and is co-produced by Medical Museion and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Reearch (CBMR) Section for Science Communication.
