100 Light Years – 15 portraits of centennarians100 lysår Liv Carlé Mortensen

a series of collages by Liv Carlé Mortensen

In connection with the museum’s centennial in 2007, Medical Museion advertised for people who would be willing to sit for collages made by the artist and photographer Liv Carlé Mortensen. The criterion was that the sitters should have their 100th birthday in 2007.

The response was overwhelming and Liv Carlé Mortensen was invited to 15 centennarians around Denmark to take photos and interview the sitters.

The results was the exhibition 100 Light Years. The 15 portraits are spectacular and surprising collages of memory. Their colourful staging challenge the way we usually portrait old people.

The exhibition can be seen in the museum opening hours or by appointment.
