I have been Director of Medical Museion and Professor at Copenhagen University since June 2016. My role is to help this wonderful institution flourish both within the ecology of Copenhagen University and across the public realm. We are embarking on an exciting redevelopment project.
I also continue as Creative Director at Wellcome, where I oversee international cultural projects. I have been at Wellcome since 1992, spearheading a number of multidisciplinary cultural initiatives. This culminated in 2007 with the establishment of Wellcome Collection, where I directed the programming for its first decade.
I regularly write and lecture on museums as well as contemporary intersections between the arts and sciences. My book 'Cabinets for the Curious' (Ashgate, 2006) explored what can be learned from looking back at England’s earliest museums. And I am currently working on a book about the enduringly important cultural role of museums.
