Medical Museion is seeking five student assistants to join an exciting new art-science project as exhibition hosts, for a period of 15 weeks from October 2021 to January 2022. ‘The World is in You’ is an ambitious interdisciplinary exhibition – combining contemporary art, science, and history to explore how our bodies are entangled with the world around us. In our ‘exhibition plus’ concept, the displays are accompanied by a busy programme of events, talks, workshops, podcasts, and more. The exhibition will take place at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Kongens Nytorv, which will be the primary place of work for the exhibition hosts.
Your role will be to create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for visitors. Exhibition hosts will engage our audiences in conversations – prompting reflection, answering questions, and encouraging curiosity. On a practical level, you will be responsible for overseeing the completion of visitor surveys, helping guests carry out simple evaluation activities, recording observations of visitor reactions, and assisting at events. The job requires someone with a positive attitude and a flair for oral communication. We welcome applications from English-only speakers but some Danish language skills would be advantageous.
We imagine that you:
- Are in the process of a higher education
- Have an interest in science and sharing science with the public
- Have good English language skills
- Are service-minded, professional and friendly
- Are willing to work weekends and evenings in the entire exhibition period
Working hours are approximately 8 hours per week divided into 2 shifts of 4 hours each between Wednesday and Sunday, beginning October 1, 2021 to January 30, 2022. Successful applications will be required to attend 3 days of paid, mandatory training – one day in June and two days in August. Exhibition hosts will also be expected to attend an additional monthly team meeting in the exhibition period.
Remuneration is in accordance with an agreement between the Ministry of Finance and HK § 35 for active students who document being enrolled at a higher education institution or at a medium-term higher education (MVU) at a vocational college or similar institution. The hourly wage is DKK 126,28-128,45, depending on your seniority.
