I study everyday aesthetics experienced, explained and exhibited.

In particular I am interested in how people experience and learn through the senses, and currently I focus on how smell impressions unfold and interplay with other senses. Thus, how smell is experienced, as an atmosphere evoking moods, silence, and laughter, is a thorough theme in my work.

I hold a master’s degree in cultural sociology from Department of Sociology, University of Copenhagen. In Germany I studied philosophy and sociology at both Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and at Freie Universität Berlin, and recently I have been affiliated the Centre for Sensory Studies at Concordia University, Montréal, Canada.
