Medical Museion image archive includes paintings, prints, drawings, watercolors, prints, photographs, miscellaneous pamphlets, advertisements cuttings etc.

The archive contains Denmarks largest collection of medical portraits, photographs of hospitals, clinics, correctional facilities, etc.

Images can’t be borrowed by private, but digital images is available for ordering : Staff at Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, as well as employees of hospitals and pharmacies are granted a discount of 50%.


Digital images/scans from Medical Museion digital database: 400 DKK (regardless of resolution)

New recordings / scans from Medical Museion picture archive: Price determined by actual charge (500 DKK / t + handling fee and postage)

New Photograf, film and video recordings: by agreement.

We offer a 25% discount to governmental or state museums.

There is 50% discount to employees at Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Copenhagen, employees of hospitals and pharmacies, members of the Medicinsk Museions Venneforening and members of the Foreningen Røntgensamlingens Venner.

In publications, it must clearly state that works / objects belongs to Medical Museion, University of Copenhagen, and information on photographer, title of work, dating, and the artist’s name.

Permission for photography are only given for the intended purpose and does not include the artist or his heirs consent. Please contact COPY-DAN for more information. Photo material may not be re-edited, transparency flattener or electronic manipulated without special permission.

Photo material may not be transferred to third parties without the museum’s consent.

Digital images are delivered primarily by e-mail. Electronic storage is only allowed in the management phase.
