Culture Night at Medical Museion
Open all night!
On Friday 14 October the Copenhagen night will once again be immersed in culture – for the annual city-wide event, Culture Night. Medical Museion is of course also open all night (from 6 p.m. to midnight). Admission with Culture Pass only.
The latest in metabolic research will be exposed to the toughest of strokes, as researchers Jens Høiriis Nielsen and Lars Bo Nielsen meet up with illustrator Pedro Lopez in the auditorium of Medical Museion. The research topics challenged by the pen on this night include obesity, diabetes and arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) in an experiment of research communication using live drawing. Sessions start at 7 p.m., 8.30 p.m. and 9.30 p.m. This event is presented in collaboration with the Danish Comics Council. Presentations are done in Danish.
Balance and Metabolism
Be among the first to visit our new exhibition focused on two medical understandings of the body. Two hundred years ago the body was perceived as a balance system consisting of humors like blood and bile. Diseases were simply imbalances and draining one humor could reestablish the balance. Today, the body is seen as a complex chemical system, and diseases are caused by chemical reactions as performed in labs and they are treated with drugs. The exhibition has something to offer for everyone who has a body, but perhaps isn’t aware of how much medicine affects our way of understanding it.
Test your lung function
The Danish Lung Association draws attention to one of the most widespread diseases of our time, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), because many people are affected by decreased lung function without knowing it. You can test your lung function for free, and a team of doctors and nurses are available to talk give advice about lung issues.
